The Master’s Degree in Aesthetic Restorative Dentistry offers a very wide range of practical clinical activity and at the same time gives the students an in-depth knowledge of the dental laboratory.
Now, in the world of modern dentistry, new technologies have developed a set of systems of work such as CAD-CAM, which require a basic knowledge of materials and laboratory procedures to make restorers work and that the dentist could perform in his/her own clinic. Therefore, in the subject of laboratory techniques of fixed prostheses, we develop these protocols of work and also provide students with the knowledge and basic tools to accomplish those objectives.
Students will follow the work protocols established at the University for different dental laboratory procedures. At the same time, they will acquire manual techniques for each of the steps taken and guidelines to successfully develop these protocols.
Reading the specific literature regarding aesthetic diagnosis in dentistry. Follow Dr Mauro Fradeani’s book about aesthetic rehabilitation and aesthetic analysis. Also review specific articles by Dr Magne, Dr Galip Gürel, Dr Dietschi, and Dr Rocca, among others.
The student is able to make preparations in phantoms for non-adhesive fixed prosthesis
The student is able to do articulator mounting of working models
The student is able to make the necessary wax for the correct diagnosis and to make provisional prosthesis and aesthetic tests
The student is able to make provisional teeth in a classic way
The student learns to make provisional teeth with CAD/CAM techniques
The student learns to make aesthetic provisionals for the anterior sector.
The student learns to prepare Maryland bridges
The student learns to prepare resin models
The student learns direct and indirect techniques in posterior resin models

Laboratory practice of fixed prosthesis development in the L7 laboratory, where there are the necessary machines required to undertake and produce diagnostic prosthesis, assemble on articulator, emptying plaster models, model preparation, etc.
Practice is always preceded by a brief presentation of the work to be performed and a hands-on of each of the steps the student must follow, in order to show the manual skills needed to obtain good results.
During the first year, in addition to practice in the laboratories, we have the collaboration of excellent professionals in the field, who give presentations of the different techniques and give individualised hands-on experience.
There is daily continuous assessment at the end of practice sessions. This will take into account the knowledge of the subject, the execution of practical work and the active participation of students in their development
