The subject of Sports Traumatology is an optional subject 2 ECTS, whose content is based on the study, development, conservation and restoration of the form and function of the extremities, spine and associated structures by medical means, surgical and physical trauma in those pathologies caused by sport or physical activity sports.
The objectives of the course are:
1. Acquisition of theoretical-scientific elements that allow the GP to make a correct diagnosis of the main diseases of the musculoskeletal system to be found in their community who practice sport, the beginning of treatment and appropriate referral to a specialist.
2. Acquisition of knowledge to develop a preventive and educational role within their community in the area of sports traumatology.
3. Acquisition of the action plan must be developed before a sports trauma patient.
4. Acquiring the skills to enable scans to guide diagnosis.
5. Acquiring the skills that allow for simple functional bandages.
To pass the course of Orthopaedic Surgery, the Bachelor of Medicine, a student must:
1. Have acquired the knowledge and skills necessary to adequately address the common problems of doctor-patient relations in the field of Sports Traumatology
2. Have knowledge of the scientific basis of diagnosis, treatment and pathology aspects of the Locomotor traumatic sports medicine needed to exercise and it will obviously not match the specialist you need to know.
3. Be able to describe and recognize the etiology, pathogenic mechanisms, clinical manifestations, laboratory abnormalities and imaging studies, treatment regimens, its foundation, and prognosis - and how this is altered by the treatment - of the different conditions of the trauma sport.
4. To generalize the knowledge of sports traumatology to real situations of medical practice.
5. Be able to provide preventive services, trauma and healing to the people, in different ways and circumstances in which they can develop their business, and use these services in the development and promotion of community health.
6. Permanently to develop health education of the community in the field of sports traumatology.
7. Being able to evaluate periodically the result of their activities in relation to trauma services, showing at all times a critical awareness of the results of their work and decisions.
8. Having the attitude to maintain and improve their self-training to meet new needs of sports traumatology of the population.
1. Sports injuries in the shoulder-elbow-hand shoulder instability. Tendon pathology. Elbow instability. Tennis elbow and golfer. Skier's Thumb. Injuries digital capsuloligamentous. Fractures in athletes.
2. Sports injuries in the hip and spine: impingement. Labrum injury. Osteopathic pubis. Hamstring Syndrome. Back pain in athletes (spondylolysis, spondylolisthesis).
3. Sports injuries in the knee ligament injuries. Meniscal injuries. Chondral lesions (osteochondritis, osteochondral fracture).
4. Sports injuries in Ankle ligament injuries. Ankle chondral lesions. Ankle fractures in athletes.
5. Muscle injury.
6. Tendon injuries. Tendinopathy. Overuse injuries.
Mutual of Spanish footballers:
• Attendance at the clinic, where they acquire skills in exploration pathology and therapeutic decision sporting knee, ankle, shoulder, hip.
• Support service ecodiagnóstico where gain knowledge of the diagnosis and management of muscle and tendon pathology related to the sport.
