Module 1: Etiology and diagnosis of periodontal disease
Basic treatment of periodontitis: initial or causal phase.
Practical part
- Discussion of clinical cases provided by both the course organisers and students. The student will also produce a periodontal chart for subsequent diagnosis.
- Scaling practice with phantom heads to learn about the different instruments required in causal therapy.
Module 2: Surgical treatment of periodontal disease (access, resective and regenerative methods) and periodontal maintenance.

- Practicum: Incisions and sutures, osteotomy and osteoplasty in pig jaws.

Module 3: Periodontal plastic surgery.
Practical part
- Free flap grafts, bilaminar techniques, and pedicle grafts for coronally advanced flaps in pig jaws.
Module 4: Alveolar ridge preservation and guided bone regeneration. Introduction to implantology. Implantology for periodontal patients. Implantology for periodontal patients.
Practical part
- Practical session for the module on preservation and implants: Regenerative surgery with different regenerative materials and fitting implants in pig jaws.
Module 5: Peri-implant plastic surgery
Practical part
- On phantom head jaws with implant replicas.
- On real patients. Fitting implants and managing the soft tissue around the implants. Course participants will assist students from the Master's in Periodontics and Surgery as they operate.
Module 6: Advanced implant surgery I. Short and narrow implants. Angled implants. Immediate placement and aesthetic case studies.
