Innovation and Design with Ceramic Materials
The course is divided into two stages:
- Stage 1: Training and Information: based on technical demonstrations by ceramics manufacturers, who will discuss manufacturing processes, new formats, new technologies and recent industry developments. This stage also includes factory visits in which students will have a chance to see the manufacturing processes first hand. Lastly, sites visits and conferences by architects who use ceramics prominently in their projects.
- Stage 2: Project Development: this is the design stage of the course, in which students will regularly attend workshop/corrective sessions. Some workshop sessions will feature a guest manufacturer, who will offer students guidance as to the viability of their proposals in real manufacturing terms. In these sessions, students will learn to make contact with industry specialists, a crucial part of investigation.
