GRE - Research Group for the Evaluation of Public Policies
The aim behind the Research Group for the Evaluation of Public Policies which forms part of the Research Institute for Evaluation and Public Policies is to help to create evidence, from the point of view of Health Economics, of different lifestyle habits, such as alcohol, drugs, tobacco or eating habits. In other words, its aim is to create a line of research on lifestyle habits in Catalonia from the point of view of efficiency.
Through our research we aim to:
Help to evaluate data that is collected from our Healthcare System since there are not enough technicians or time to evaluate them, with the aim of providing better information about healthcare policy decisions
Training junior researchers in Health Economics to increase the number of technicians in this discipline in our country and to help ensure that they continue to work here.
Out of the 15 most significant publications by the group, 11 of these were published in Q1 journals and were cited on almost 1000 occasions. Between the three of them the group’s researchers have more than 50 years of experience in teaching bachelor’s degree and research students in the area of Health Economics. The group works closely with other groups both nationally and internationally, which ensures that its research projects are more diverse. In recent years the group has won two competitive national projects funded by the Spanish Ministry of Economy, Industry and Competitiveness, a project undertaken with the La Caixa Foundation, and holds a high number of non-competitive contracts or agreements as well. It is an emerging group which considers the transfer of research results to society to be a priority.
