GRE - Research Group in Architectural Heritage Research
The Architectural Heritage Research Research Group consists of researchers trained in various Catalan universities such as UIC Barcelona, the UPC and the URV which have undertaken their own research based on the field of architectural heritage. This research group stems from the Architectural Heritage PatriARQ group at Rovira i Virgili University.
The main field of research in this emerging research group involves looking in-depth into knowledge of architectural heritage, starting from various direct sources such as the analysis of historical archives and ending with an analysis of built works through the mass capture of data, specifically by using a Terrestrial Laser Scanner (TLS). Its research field focuses on existing buildings from the Romanesque to the beginning of the XX century, as is demonstrated by the many doctoral theses undertaken and supervised by the various members of this research group. It also has a clear objective in terms of the data obtained both from software and the materials and technology employed in the construction of existing heritage. The results of this research has an impact on correctly cataloguing property and ensuring it is suitably maintained.
The new group focused on the following areas: the Theory and Restoration of Architectural Heritage, the Theory of Restoration and Graphic Expression from the Project-Based Theory of Sacred Heritage and new project-based methods for Architectural Algorithms.
