  1. What are ECTS credits?

ECTS (European Credit Transfer System) credits are the units used to quantify all the activities the students carry out during the learning process: theoretical and practical class hours, study hours, seminars, homework, work experience and projects, exam preparation and exams or other tests. Each ECTS credit is equal to 25 hours of work.

  2. What is the difference between the Master’s Degree and postgraduate degrees in Cultural Management?

The University Master’s Degree in Cultural Management at UIC Barcelona has a heavier course load and workload. As a result, it provides a more comprehensive overview of cultural management and also includes a Final Master’s Degree Project and work experience.

The postgraduate degrees, thanks to their reduced format, are a great option for people who work and study or who are taking other courses. They are intended for students with a bachelor's degree, undergraduate degree or diploma, who are currently working and who wish to further their knowledge of key aspects of cultural management. The subjects that make up the curricula of the various postgraduate degrees are also part of the Master’s Degree curriculum.

The University Master's Degree in Cultural Management at UIC Barcelona is an official postgraduate qualification adapted to the regulations of the European Higher Education Area. Postgraduate degrees are, throughout the EU, specific to the universities that teach them.

  3. Do the postgraduate degrees include external job placements? If not, can students do a job placement by paying the cost of the credits?

UIC Barcelona does not offer postgraduate students the opportunity to do job placements. Nor may they pay the cost of the job placement as if it were an additional subject.

  4. As a postgraduate student, will the subjects I take be recognised if I switch to the Master’s Degree?

If a postgraduate student wishes to switch to the Master’s Degree, acceptance of their application will depend on the date on which the change was requested. Students may not enrol in the Master’s Degree if more than one month has passed since the start of the academic year.

Although the postgraduate students take the same subjects as the master’s students, these subjects may not be recognised in the Master’s Degree curriculum as the postgraduate degree is not an official qualification.

  5. Can I take master’s degree subjects even though they are not part of the postgraduate degree?

Although the postgraduate students take the same subjects as the master’s students, not all Master’s Degree subjects are included in the postgraduate programme. As a result, postgraduate students may not take Master’s Degree subjects that are not part of the postgraduate programme.

Students interested in taking a Master’s Degree subject that is not part of the postgraduate programme may enrol in the subject as “Continuing Education”. All subjects may be taken as “Continuing Education”.

  6. As a postgraduate student, can I take part in the Master’s Degree visits and activities?

The academic programmes of both the University Master’s Degree and postgraduate degrees in Cultural Management at UIC Barcelona provide students the opportunity to take part in joint study visits and trips to cultural institutions and facilities.

Both sets of students will also attend joint lectures by industry experts.
