  • Basic information

The fascia is a structure of very tough connective tissue that extends throughout the entire body like a three-dimensional network. Membranous in appearance, it connects and encloses all of the body’s structures, providing support, protection and shape to the organism.

Myofascial restriction is the structural change to the fascia that can be caused by traumas, repeated micro-traumas, surgical procedures, bad posture, stress, etc. These restrictions can give rise to pathological fascial tension which, if not treated correctly, can result in the onset of pain, hypermobility and the loss of flexibility and elasticity in the fascial system, either at the point of the trauma or distant from it.

Myofascial Release Techniques (MRT) include a process of assessment and treatment which, through the use of movements and pressure applied over a period of time, succeeds in eliminating the restrictions.

Objectives

The aim of this course is to provide students with the necessary skills and ability to detect and treat myofascial restrictions and restore functional equilibrium to the body.
