Module 1

  • Presentation of the course, objectives and content:
    • Introduction to Diacutaneous Fibrolysis.
    • Indications and contraindications of Diacutaneous Fibrolysis.
    • Application techniques: Classic “hooking” technique, vertical traction, “star” technique, inverted technique and periosteal scratching.
    • Effects: Mechanical, circulatory, neurophysiological.
    • Soft tissue dysfunction: Contractile and non-contractile dysfunction. Clinical characteristics, assessment and treatment approach, accessory motion and connective tissue dysfunction.
  • Evaluation of the dysfunction:
    • Symptom location test.
    • Muscle length, muscle extensibility and compartment test.
    • Points of maximum tension.
    • Strength test.
    • Practical application on the lower limb.
  • Diacutaneous Fibrolysis approach on the thigh and knee, anatomical localisation, evaluation, Diacutaneous Fibrolysis treatment, integrated clinical cases and clinical applications:
    • Patellofemoral pain syndrome.
    • Iliotibial band syndrome.
    • Menisci and ligament dysfunction.
    • Post-surgical approach.
    • Approach to tears.
    • Scars.
    • Patellar tendinitis.
  • Diacutaneous Fibrolysis approach on the leg, ankle and foot region, anatomical localisation, evaluation, Diacutaneous Fibrolysis treatment, integrated clinical cases and clinical applications:
    • Gastrocnemius, soleus and plantaris dysfunction.
    • Tibial periostitis.
    • Achilles tendinitis.
    • Ligament sprain.
    • Peroneal muscle dysfunction.

    • Supervision of the practical skills acquired in Module 1.

  • Diacutaneous Fibrolysis approach on the thoracic region, anatomical localisation, evaluation, Diacutaneous Fibrolysis treatment, integrated clinical cases and clinical applications:
    • Intercostal pain.
    • Interscapular pain.
  • Diacutaneous Fibrolysis approach on the shoulder and arm region, anatomical localisation, evaluation, Diacutaneous Fibrolysis treatment, integrated clinical cases and clinical applications:
    • Tears.
    • Rotator cuff tendinitis.
    • Subacromial impingement syndrome.
    • Triangular space.
    • Triceps brachii muscle.
    • Adhesive capsulitis.
    • Glenohumeral hypomobility.
    • Axillary pouch release.

Master’s Degree in Primary Care Research from the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. Master's Degree in Orthopaedic Manual Therapy from the University of Zaragoza. Adjunct lecturer at the Universitat Internacional de Catalunya. Lecturer in the Master’s Degree in Orthopaedic Manual Therapy. Member of the Physiotherapy Research Unit at the University of Zaragoza since 2006. Principal Investigator for the Study Group on Musculoskeletal Diseases in Primary Care (GEPALAP), accredited by the Jordi Gol University Institute for Primary Care Research (IDIAP) as an emerging research group in 2013.
