Barcelona Centre Universitari (BCU)

Language: attention and agreement in English or other languages if so desired.

Barcelona Centre Universitari is the official service for all universities in Barcelona. It is an institution that aims to provide accommodation, accompany and welcome students, lecturers and researchers who have chosen to further their education in Barcelona.

Information about the BCU housing service

  • Each year, this institution provides accommodation to over 2,000 people from 84 nationalities.
  • It provides information to over 5,000 people.
  • Its website (www.bcu.cat) receives an average of 50,000 visits.

What does the BCU housing service offer?

  • There is no need to pay a security or deposit your salary. All you need is a passport or national ID card and documentary proof that the users of the service are students, researchers or university lecturers.
  • All flats are move-in-ready, fully furnished and equipped with everything needed to get settled from day one. All services will be turned on so that the users do not have carry out these formalities.
  • Affordable management fees.
  • There are two ways of renting a flat, which are adapted to suit the users' needs:
  1. Online booking: the best option for people who want to arrange accommodation prior to arrival and make the booking from their city of origin on the website www.resahousing.com
  2. Visit and book: the best option for those who want to see several options before renting. RESA Housing also offers guided visits.
  • Individual attention in various languages (Catalan, Spanish, English, French, Russian and Chinese) by telephone, e-mail or in person.
  • Option to view the rental agreement in Catalan, English, French, Russian or Chinese before signing.
  • Free legal advice via e-mail.
  • Inquiries on other aspects, such as transport or the necessary procedures for living in Barcelona.
  • This housing service is ISO 9001 certified.
  • It also offers adapted flats for students with disabilities, thereby fulfilling one of the objectives laid down by the Government of Catalonia's UNIDISCAT (University and Disability in Catalonia) Technical Committee, which promotes equal opportunities for students with disabilities.

Special protocol for university lecturers and scientists

  • They will be contacted to find out exactly what their housing needs are.
  • They will be sent a number of housing options (with photos, maps, conditions, nearby public transport) so that they can choose what they feel is the best option.
  • If they come with children, they will be provided information about private schools or assisted in finding a seat in the public system or charter schools.
  • Their needs will be addressed in the same way as expatriates of multinationals.
  • They will receive practical advice, which is available on the website under the heading LIVING: http://bcu.cat/en/living-in-barcelona/know-barcelona/ http://bcu.cat/en/welcome/ (for information on Wi-Fi, banks, healthcare, etc.)
