Limited Places

This master’s is taught on-site over one academic year, and is divided into two semesters.

The first semester is taught at UIC Barcelona and consists of theory classes (30 credits). In the second semester work placements will be undertaken in companies (18 credits). These work placements can be undertaken in Spain and also abroad. The curriculum ends with a Final master’s Degree Project, which consists of an original research project in the field of company management and production systems.

This master’s is carried out on-site over one academic year, and is divided into two semesters.

The first semester will be undertaken in Barcelona and consists of theoretical classes (30 credits). In the second semester students undertake work experience in various companies (12 credits).

Work experience is carried out both in Spain and also abroad.

At the end of the course students must present a Final Master’s Project (12 credits) in Barcelona.

The University master’s degree in Business Management and Production Systems was set up and is run by UIC Barcelona and the Politecnico di Torino jointly, based on an agreement made between the two universities in 2003.

This master’s course involves on-site classes and is undertaken over one year, divided into two six month periods. During the first semester students take classes in UIC Barcelona, and in the second semester they go on a work placement either in or outside Spain.

Basic competences
CB6 To have and understand knowledge which provide a grounding or opportunity to be original in terms of the development and/or application of ideas, often in a research-based context.
 
CB7 That students are able to apply the knowledge acquired and resolve problems in new or little known environments within broader contexts related to their area of study.
 

CB8 That students are able to incorporate knowledge and deal with the complexity of formulating judgements based on information which, being incomplete of limited, includes reflections on the social and ethical responsibilities linked to the application of their knowledge and judgements.

CB9 That students know how to communicate their conclusions and final reasons that support these to specialised and non-specialised audiences in a clear and unambiguous way.

CB10 That students have the learning skills that will allow them to continue studying in a way that will have to be largely self-directed or autonomous.

General competences
CG1 The ability to organise and plan work, taking into account potential setbacks which will require adaptation to new situations.
 
CG2 The ability to work in and form part of multidisciplinary and multicultural teams, and take on a leadership role if necessary.
 
CG3 The ability to generate new ideas and critically assess the alternatives in the face of multiple criteria and actors.
 
CG4 The ability to contrast and make decisions according to a particular methodological rigour, taking on responsibility for decisions.
Specific competences
CE1 To identify and apply the operative methods and aspects of the design and management of production processes in order to efficiently resolve problems.
 
CE2 To distinguish the main techniques and methodologies to manage the production and logistics area of organisations and their application to overall strategic management.
 
CE3 To identify the main concepts and methodologies developed to manage innovation and successfully implement them within the company.
 
CE4 To model, simulate and manage productive processes in industry.
 
CE5 To design and plan productive process in a company according to the regulatory framework applicable to each organisation.
 
CE6 To analyse the economic and financial environment of organisations as well as the costs associated with their activities.
 
CE7 To optimally manage the material, financial and human resources of organisations in order to ensure suitable management of business production systems.
 
CE8 To analyse complex situations within the field of industrial organisation, taking the initiative and responsibility to determine the best solution and also have respect for company values and those of society and the general environment.
 
CE9 To value processes in organisations and propose new improvements based on the knowledge acquired.
 
CE10 To analyse a problem, propose a solution and determine its viability, implantation and impact in the area of business management and/or production systems.
 
CE11 To convince a university examination panel of the solidity of comprehensive organisational production from a business organisation and leadership point of view. 
 
Each subject has its own system of evaluation. The evaluation instruments include projects, case studies, work placements, oral presentations and examinations.
 
The evaluation of work placements in companies is continuous and is undertaken based on three procedures: a report written by the tutor who has been monitoring the student’s work, joint monitoring sessions for all students that take place periodically in the university, and a final report. 
 
In the case of the Final Master’s Degree Project, evaluation involves presenting it to a jury consisting of professors and lecturers from the Faculty of Economic and Social Sciences at UIC Barcelona.
